Sanef assistance - FAQ

Are the free flow gantries equipped with radars to control vehicle speed?

The free flow gantries installed above the traffic lanes are equipped with equipment necessary for the detection and recording of the registration plates of vehicles crossing them for the sole purpose of collecting the toll due. These sensors distinguish vehicle categories, detect electronic toll badges and photograph license plates. Under no circumstances are these devices intended to measure the speed of motorists and to serve as a sanctioning tool.

We are authorized to report offenses only in relation to toll payment fraud; the information collected is therefore not used to measure speed. Certain images recorded as part of our daily activity may be requested by investigation services but only within the framework of a very supervised requisition procedure.
